Profiting at the Expense of Others

Psychiatry and the drug industry do not profit from people recovering from their mental health problems. They don't make money on alternatives to psychiatry and it's bio-reductionest approach to the treatment of mental health. They simply don't make money and it's all about money for the drug industry and the psychiatric quacks they have in their pockets. They don't profit from a healthy diet rich in omega 3 fatty acids from fish, they don't make money on regular exercise, runners aren't big cash cows for the drug industry. They don't make money on real insight into your mental health problems, it's something they don't want you to have. They want you to reduce your problems to a genetic chemical imbalance that they claim is corrected by their drugs. They make money on psudoscientific nonsense, like in the drug commercials. They don't make money on insight or science. The drug industry makes money selling drugs, psychiatric quacks make money prescribing them.

Take a look at the drug industry. I'll use the criminal corporate entity Eli Lilly as an example. It's such a good example of greed and wrongdoing. I know for a fact that the people at Lilly knew quite a bit about their blockbuster drug Zyprexa, take a look at internal company documents. Apparently what they knew didn't stop Lilly CEO John Lechleiteir from encouraging drug reps to discuss prescribing Zyprexa to children and teenagers, something that would have lead to predictable problems for those kids. It's not only that, serious weight gain with that class of drugs is really only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to problems created by those drugs. Lilly makes money at the expense of those kids, it makes money on disability, cognitive dysfunction, obesity, drugs those kids might end up taking for diabetes. Right now that's how they're making money. Another example is how the company marketed the drug to treat dementia in the elderly knowing it didn't work. There's a good chance that they were aware that the drugs would be used by psychiatric quacks to chemically lobotomize those folks, making things easier and more profitable for the nursing homes they reside in. Something done at their expense. What you have is an industry making money at the expense of their patients, not from what's good for them. They profit from what's bad for them, knowingly.

The drug industry profits from knowingly replacing the science your doctor or even a psychiatric quack relies on with the shameless marketing of their products. There's a few smoking gun examples from the paper linked to in the article above here. It's marketing based medicine at the expense of patients. That's what's going on in the mental health field today.
